Character Analysis
The most interesting and influential character in The Guns of August was Lord Kitchener. Lord Kitchener's most important trait was his ability to lead others and influence others. It is obvious that Lord Kitchener was an excellent leader because he was able to quickly get civilians to enlist into the army and was able to properly advise the English government into making the correct military decisions as the Secretary of State for War. Lord Kitchener exemplified his leadership abilities by not only getting people to enlist but by also being able to rally soldiers and making very wise strategical decisions that would help Great Britain out later in the war. Lord Kitchener was an excellent leader that played a major role in many of Britain's early decisions regarding the war. Without Lord Kitchener's leadership Britain wouldn't have been nearly as effective as they were throughout the war especially in the early days of the war.
